This is a free and great way to spend time with your kids! On Saturday September 27th the Weeks Bay Foundation will hold its Annual Kids Fishing Day at the Safe Harbor pond between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The pond will be stocked with more than 1,000 pounds of freshwater catfish. This event is a great way to teach children how to enjoy our natural resources in Baldwin County. There is no charge to register. A parent or guardian will be required to accompany each child. Children are encouraged to bring their own equipment and coolers, however fishing poles and bait will be available to loan out at no charge. Daphne Utilities will be there providing free hot dogs for everyone. Registration forms and permission slips can be found at the Weeks Bay Reserve Visitor Center, the Foundation office, or online at weeksbay.org; just bring the forms to the event. Registration forms will also be available on the day of the event. The event is sponsored by the Weeks Bay Foundation, The Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the Mapp Family Foundation. For more information contact the Weeks Bay Foundation office at 251-990-5004.
