This is a letter that I sent today, responding to an inspection - TopicsExpress

This is a letter that I sent today, responding to an inspection report I received in the mail yesterday. To say I am pissed is an understatement. Mr. Beuter, I have attached my response to the problems that were found during your representatives inspection of our property done on 4/10/2014. Of all the problems listed, only two are correct and those are both minor. In this email, which you suggested, I will address each separately. 2012-05-01, noting an inadequate number of fire extinguishers, is pure malarkey. By your own standards, a fire extinguisher is only required for every 3000 sq ft. We have TWO fire extinguishers in our home, which is less than 1800 sq ft and so would require only one anyway. We also have TWO fire extinguishers in the barn (not required at all), which, if you count the outside overhangs, is 3780 sq ft. The interior area of the barn is only 2592 sq ft which would only require ONE extinguisher. There is ANOTHER in the small workshop, which is less than 1000 sq. ft. I come from a family of firefightere and am probably more aware of fire safety and correspondingly, more careful about fire safety than 90% of Nationwides clients. In addition, Damrock Farm LLC, as is required of every business in the town of Amsterdam, NY, is inspected YEARLY for fire safety and as of yet, has NEVER failed an inspection. 2014-05-02, noting lack of a locking gate at the point of entry to the pool. The pool is 52 high and does not even require a FENCE according to NYS law, let alone a locking gate. We have, of our own accord, installed a removable ladder for entry into the pool, which is removed except for when we are using it. 2014-05-03, noting lack of a handrail on the rear deck steps. That has been corrected. 2014-05-04, noting peeling paint on building 2. This is also correct, although it IS a workshop and chicken house, not what I or any farm business I know of, would consider to be a high priority for repair. It is structurally sound and keeps what is inside of it (tools and chickens) dry and protected. That being said, plans are for it to be repainted this summer at some point. 2014-05-04, noting sagging roof on building 3. Im not even sure what building is building 3 since there are no descriptions in the report. Unless there is a building on the property that I am unaware of, I have no idea what your inspector was looking at. There is NOTHING here that has a sagging roof. The building with the peeling paint (noted as building 2) has a perfectly straight roof line (just in case it was a typo and was supposed to say building 2). The main barn is less than five years old and in excellent condition and the house has a brand new roof that was just installed last summer. The only other structure that can possibly be considered a building is a run-in shed in one of the pastures and that too, is structurally sound and not sagging at all. I cannot begin to fathom what this part of the report is based on. Pardon my language, but its bullshit. I cant put it any plainer than that. Bottom line, this report is nearly completely unjustified and reeks of justifying my job. If Nationwide would like to come and reinspect the property themselves, which, incidently, was done upon inception of the original policy just a little over a year ago, they are more than welcome to do so, but in the future, Mueller Services will NOT be allowed on the property. I will simply not deal with a company who inaccurately reports their findings, especially when it comes to my business insurance eligibility. Sincerely Pamela Zielinski
