This is a misleading statistic. First, and obviously, members of an anonymous program are bound to be difficult to track. Second, the recovery rate, is in the millions, even if this study is correct. Finally, before A.A., there was no such thing as a recovery rate. This doesnt so much speak to the ineffectiveness of A.A. as it does to the fact that addiction of any kind is a terribly difficult problem to solve. Why knock those that are at least trying to solve it?
