This is an interesting and worthy local project that needs help to bring it to completion: PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN ♥♦ We at Green Square School are looking for people who are interested in volunteering an hour or more of their time in the coming 5 weeks to help our special needs school bring to life a small ceremonial garden that commemorates our students learning to date. The simple garden design is to surround a sculptural work, commissioned by the City of Sydney Council for the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School to complete – celebrating the transformation of Green Square suburb and the students within Green Square School. All of the design principles for the sculpture and garden have been thought of by the students study of the local area – it’s history, culture & environment – and followed by the sculpturalists and landscape architect alike. The entire garden & sculpture project, from inception to finish, has been the result of community spirited volunteers helping to bring our students’ ideas and concepts into artistic expression and beautiful public space. The school will be open for volunteering efforts from 3-5pm every afternoon except Saturdays - starting from Monday, 18th August. It is very important that any interested volunteers contact me before coming in to the school so the most appropriate organisation can be made for their arrival. We will also be sending out invitations to the official unveiling of the garden & sculpture in the coming weeks – the event being on Friday 19th September 12-1pm. Clover Moore is booked to unvel it.
