This is for my sweet cousin Marylou Samuels. Five things in my life I am grateful about: 1. I am grateful for my faith in God. I know that life can be short and death is certain. One night when I was 10 years old at a church my grandfather, Jesse Gilbert, was preaching at in Grayson County, I prayed and begged for God to come into my heart. Then I felt the love of God. I felt pure in spirit and a love I had never known came into my heart. I truly believe when I die I will go to a place where the love encountered that day will be the norm and be eternal. 2. My mom Lano Gilbert and my dad. Mama is loving, cheerful, funny, healthy, good, helpful, and kind. Daddy doesnt always listen good, but in times of trouble he would do anything to help us. Without them I wouldnt have my sisters Cindy Gilbert Mitchell, Peggy Gilbert Kersting and their kids Samantha Keister, Hunter Duncan, and Jake Mitchell 3. Grandparents that were wonderful and taught their children to work hard and to love people. Also, Jesse Gilbert, helped organize Greenwood United Baptist Church and those people and I have roots that run deep. We have prayed many a prayer together and they have helped me live closer to God and been there for me through thick and thin. On Mamas side, I inherited wonderful aunts, uncles, and cousins. 4. Valerie Terry, Megan Terry, and Matt Terry. I wanted children with all my heart. Thanks to Dennis, who also wanted children, God granted our wish. 5. I love teaching! When I look at my class and I know they are trying hard to improve and behave it touches my heart and makes me want to give all I have to help them. I love all my students past and present and think of them continuously.
