My Perspective Since realizing in my latter years that I am not - TopicsExpress

My Perspective Since realizing in my latter years that I am not immortal, my total perspective about life has changed. Things that used to be such a big deal, or better yet, Important, Are now, very trivial. Also, I used to let things go to keep from hurting someones feelings. No more, I say exactly what’s on my mind unless of course It doesn’t concern me or I’m not asked. Not trying to be uncompashionate…. I just think that people rather prefer honesty and know where you stand on things rather than sugar coat it or not be truthful. I truly think people prefer honesty. As I start the journey into my final years, I am slowly accepting the fact that the party must end soon. And one clear, cold morning after Im gone, my friends and family will awaken one day and be struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isnt any more….. any mores’. No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate, no more phone calls, no more just one minute. Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and goes away, never to return before we can say good-bye, or say I love you. So while we have it, we need to take the time to love it, care for it, fix it when it’s broken and heal it when it’s sick. This is true for relationships, broken bicycles, old cars, and children with bad report cards, and dogs with bad hips, and aging parents and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, and because we are worth it. Some things we keep, like a best friend who moved away or a daughter-in-law after a divorce. There are just some things that make us content, no matter what. Life is important, like people we know who are special. And so, we keep them and continue to love them! Suppose one morning you never wake up, do all your friends know how you really feel? The important thing is to let every one of your friends know your true feelings, even if you think they dont love you back. So, just in case Im gone tomorrow, please understand if I ever hurt you ….. it may or may not have been intentional. However if it was, please forgive me and remember, I was still learning just like everyone else! My Thoughts “Our age is not what defines us, it’s the mileage”
