This is gonna be the longest post I have ever made but here goes. When I was a little girl, I had an uncle that I truly thought had hung the moon, stars and sun. Sadly, he passed away when I was only 8 years old. As children do, I vowed that if I ever had a child, he or she would be born on Uncle Archs birthday, Dec. 7th. Many years later, I found out that I would be adopting a newborn baby some time in December of 1990 and doing so as a single woman and, I wont lie, was a bit uncertain that this was truly Gods will and not just my own. The birth mothers due date was, if I remember correctly, around the 20th. She called me around 9:00 on the night of the 6th. She had been to the doctor that day and though the baby was in position to be born, she had not even begun to dilate and he would only let her go as long as Christmas before inducing labor. A bit disappointed, I called my mom and Ronnie and gave them the update before going to bed. A Christmas baby would be great too. So, off to sleep I went. My phone rang again at about 3 in the morning and the birth mother was in hard labor!! By the time I went from Otto to pick her up in Cowee to the hospital in Sylva, I honestly thought she was gonna deliver that baby in my car! Got to the hospital with about 20 minutes to spare. I became a mother a little after 5:00 a.m. on....drum roll please....Uncle Archs birthday. I have always said that if I didnt know before then that this was truly Gods will, He gave His stamp of approval that day. I fell in love hard that morning. I am so very thankful that God chose me to be that babys mom. Jordan McGuire, I love you to infinity and beyond. Happy (24th) Birthday tomorrow!!!
