This is how you know that the youth today does not value education. With progress reports being distributed, I hear comments being made with not one care about it. Theyre saying that their parents dont care and theyre not going to do anything about it. In my classes, I gave my students an hour to catch up on missing assignments because of the failing rate in each period. Out of the 15-20 that are failing, only half uses the time to do the work. As a teacher I walk around and redirect them to get their work done but it gets exhausting. I asked a student why arent you doing your work? You have a very low grade and the response that I get is I dont know. I told the student to bring out the work and he said I dont have it. I asked him then what is he gonna do about the situation and all he can say is I dont know. What drives me insane is how these kids are so lazy and feel theyre entitled to everything. They expect everything to be given to them. They have no work ethic what so ever or the motivation to be successful. This is one of the reasons why I cant see myself teaching for a long time. Its a uphill battle that gets no support. I cant help you if you cant help yourself. This profession has its rewards but the struggle and stress that comes along with it doesnt weigh it out. End rant
