This is my America I am still troubled by the Sterling Affair and the fact that many people still deny racism is as prevalent as it is. Many of us decline to speak out and condemn these attitudes. I have learned from truthful sources of racist comments made by elected officials in my city of Fort Worth. And the black officials who were privy to the statements remained silent. They stood mute as did their European American counterparts. I share this on a beautiful Sabbath to pose the question, are you willing to call these people out? Why or why not? We live in troubled times. War and poverty and so many issues consume us. But it seems to me it is fundamental to solutions that we respect all others even if we are different. I pray for this.
