This is my first Epiphany Letter on FB, so please be patient with me. For those who have not seen these before, as a clergy household Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter are busy times for us. We have been sending out Epiphany letters (The Twelve Days of Christmas/when the Magi brought the presents to Jesus) rather than Christmas Cards. Now that we are retired, it still seems OK to do, i.e. this is not a late Christmas letter, this is an Epiphany letter. Joni and Jim’s Christmas/Epiphany Letter For starters, Jim managed to stay retired for the entire year, and Joni officially retired in June when she celebrated a Route 66 party. One or two days a week she returns as a contractor working in Energy Storage for PG&E. We celebrated her retirement with 17 days in Maui (including an Easter when Jim did NOT work in Holy Week). Our grandson Strody (12) flew out from Iowa to spend a few weeks with us, but he’s at the stage where he does not want his picture taken so we have no visual evidence. But our other grandchildren, Vincent and Walter (4 and almost 1), are in lots of pictures, and we saw them in Everett, Washington at the end of a month-long road trip) which also took us to Colorado to see our niece Katrina be married to Bobby back in Golden (where Joni did her graduate work at the Colorado School of Mines). She was a fine tour guide. Josiah and Sylvia also brought their kids down at Thanksgiving week, which included a trip to the Academy of Sciences, where we toured the Rain Forest exhibit and fought off immense butterflies. Our older son Jath works again at O’Reilly, and his wife Yurika finished her nursing school with a “Pinning” ceremony in December. They live close by in San Pablo. We’re very thankful for good health and for the ability to share in God’s blessings. We hope the same for you as well in 2015.
