This is my story. On August 4,2012 Our daughter Savannah was killed by an 82 year old man driving 65 MPH in a Target parking lot in Lake Worth Tx. She was only 7 years old. This man named Vincent Martinez hit a total of 8 people walking in the parking lot in two different areas. He hit 4 people first and he didnt stop to help them he sped up to get away. He hit us me and Savannah and two others in front of Target when he was made to come to a stop because he ran into a pole and another car. Thats the only reason he stopped. He had no medical problems nothing was wrong with him. He came around that corner so fast I didnt see him till the last second. Mark my husband was ahead of us and was screaming at us to get out of the way but I didnt understand what he was saying so I stopped walking. Savannah took one more step the step that killed her. Her dad watched the murder of his daughter. He watched as both his wife and daughter was hit by this truck. He ran to Savannah laying on the hot pavement and scooped her up into his arms and took her inside the doors of target with me following right behind him both of us screaming for help. She was lifeless but still breathing. She was care flighted to Cooks Childrens hospital to where her father and I had to make the decision that no parent-should ever make to stop all CPR and machines because she was brain dead. And was brain dead on contact so I pray she didnt suffer I pray she didnt feel a thing. I was injured and didnt realize it till after Savannah had passed away. He got away with 4 counts of Failure to stop and render aid and one count of vehicular malicious homicide for killing Savannah. And the Grand Jury did not indite him. Because of his age. They said they werent enough evidence. When they were so many different angles of video from all the stores. I didnt get to face him. Look him in the eye and show him what he had done to us. I wrote him a impact letter and mailed it to him. I told him how I felt. I even posted it on Savannahs page for everyone to read its still there so please feel free to read. Its under file on her page. It will tell you a little more. You can also Google Savannah Deegear and watch several videos and see how they try to say poor old man he must have had a medical issue. Vincent Martinez was never even questioned or even put into hand cuffs. He was released from the hospital to go home to his family. Thats my story please listen and share this beautiful song that was written about Savannah for our Christmas present. I want to see how many and where all we can reach and touch with her story and song.
