This is precisely why I couldnt stand Oklahoma sometimes (while growing up). It was and still is run by ignorant, intolerant and bigoted imbeciles. If context doesnt matter in religious scriptures. Then, by the same rule of law, we mustnt forget how the New Testament and apocalyptic book of revelation quite blatantly glorify violence. Lets not forget how the Apocalyptic book of revelation is full of imagery of war, genocide, and destruction; it may be the most violent book in the entire Bible. Jesus (peace be upon him) says, Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace but a sword (Matthew 10:34). Samuel 15:7-8 implies He took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and all his people he totally destroyed with the sword. Lets not forget how Jesus cleansing of the Temple was an extremely violent action in itself. So, the point I am trying to make folks is that we shouldnt be selective in our criticism of other religious scriptures while forgetting the violence incited by our own. Lets not take things out of context only when it serves our interest or political ambitions. Hate mongering Oklahoman lawmakers employing bigoted sentiments and spreading religious intolerance to rally up support from the ignorant masses.
