This is so true! My Hifdh teacher used to tell me that the Quran is like an ocean while the Hafidh is like someone who is steering a boat in the ocean. He would go on and question whether there is any ocean that doesnt have waves? No, right? Similarly, he would say, the Hafidh also experiences the turbulence of waves when he memorizes the Quran, which manifest in the form of all the struggles the Hafidh has to face. For the Student: When I memorized the 4th chapter of the Quran, my teacher made me take a 3 day break so I could come back and read it all to him by heart. Needless to say, when I returned, I started well, but towards the end I had a blow out and started forgetting everything. Suddenly, I started crying and my teacher looked at me and said, Everyone who hoped to memorize the Quran has been where you are right now. In Senegal we say that a condition for a Qari is that he had to cry at least once while trying to memorize the Quran. Dont worry. You have to do this. You have to experience this.
