~ This is the Day ~ Its true that men only speculate on what day Jesus may have come to dwell on earth; and it is true that a long-ago church administration established the tradition of the day we now use; and it is true, also, that this date was once used for Pagan celebrations - but what does any of that matter? The Pagans dont own any day - God owns all days. The Lord never asked us to celebrate His birth, nor did He prohibit such a celebration. Today the same day is used and abused in many ways - some dedicate the day to the Lord; others to shopping results and family gatherings - but what does this matter? What does matter is that God, who owns all days of all years, chose not to reveal the particular day of His Sons birth on earth. (His true entrance to this earth as a man is when Jesus was placed in Marys womb.) God chose to honor His Son in many ways; the ultimate way was to raise Him from the dead and receive Him into glory and set Him over all things in Heaven and on earth. That is what matters, and we can celebrate that every day of our existence ... and forevermore with Him in Heaven when time is no more. ~ Norman DeLaHunt ~ 12/29/14.
