This is the very first in a series of exciting educational tutorials presented by UMBMES! Come listen to the swallowing and breathing sounds of patients (recorded in the Biomedical Signal and Instrumentation Lab on the 5th floor of EITC!) to find out how good you are at performing acoustical analysis of these sounds!. During the tutorial we will teach you about the following two medical conditions and how we can use sounds recorded from patients to diagnose them: Sleep Apnea: a sleeping disorder that is characterized by shallow, infrequent and/or breaks in breathing during sleep. Dysphagia: literally, "bad-eating" is a medical condition characterized by pain or difficulty in swallowing often accompanied by aspiration of food or liquids into the lungs. The tutorial is open to all students (undergraduate and graduate). Time and location information are as follows: Thursday, October 3rd, 2013 5:45-6:45pm E3-516 (EITC) Fort Garry Campus University of Manitoba If you have any questions, please contact our VP of Project Research at vpr.umbmes@gmail
