This is what I suspected was going on in Russia which is essentially what the Chinese are doing except the Russians are doing it with foreigners, many from the former Soviet Republics. It is a quasi-corporate economy based on what is for all intents and purposes feudalism, the use of serfs (essentially slaves) to do the work while the corporations and the government share the profit. The Chinese are doing exactly this but using Chinese from the outer provinces to produce goods. Without rebellion or the consumers rejecting the products this can continue indefinitely. Is it possible that Moscow is unwilling to take the heat from the G20 for these people being medieval serfs in a modern society?
