This is why re-examining our relationship to menstruation is so vital to our well-being and quality of life. I LOVE her insight that what we learn at the Rite-of-Passage Menarche (our first blood) we bring with us to the altar of birth... What does being a woman mean to you? What does our culture expect of women/the feminine? Childbirth is not an isolated event in a womans life, it is the culmination of her life to that point: it shows everything about her, her beliefs, her fears....
