This issue of abstaining from work because the Catholic Church says so is outdated. Many will want to crucify me but please hear me out first. Im a Catholic, yes but that doesnt mean I must agree with every doctrine of the Church. The abstinence from work was put in place and observed perfectly when the world was filled with farmers, stonemasons, labourers, sword bearing soldiers, peasants and royals. The world has changed. It has become a global village. We now have civil servants, professionals who work on any given day and globe trot across different continents. Were no longer farmers and peasants who answer only to king and Church, who live and work on their ancestral land to survive. Were doctors, teachers, pilots, actors, bankers, business owners, soldiers, etc who Must make a living. Were civil servants who must answer to our bosses, pay our rents, pay our taxes and hustle for a better tomorrow. Correct me if Im wrong.
