This just in from our local Wilmington Chamber of Commerce: The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce is disappointed by the recent U.S. Chamber of Commerce political ad that compares New Hanover County Commission Chairman and 7th District Congressional candidate Woody White to former Senator John Edwards. While we respect the right of the U.S. Chamber’s Political Action Committee to endorse candidates, we believe endorsements should be based on a fair representation of the candidate and not perpetuate the pervasive negativity in politics today. The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce is not a part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and no Wilmington Chamber funds are contributed to the U.S. Chamber’s Political Action Committee. As a matter of long-standing policy, the Wilmington Chamber does not endorse candidates for political office.
