This legal suicide has me in a real quandary. On the one hand I can clearly see why she wanted to end her suffering. She had an aggressive form of cancer that was terminal and would cause her great pain and suffering which she wanted to avoid. Whats wrong with that? Who wants a slow painful death? Anyone with an once of compassion would agree, it was hers and her families right right to make that decision. But heres the dilemma I have. What happens when someone puts forward the case that they want to end their life because they are depressed and they want to end their mental pain/torture? What happens when they argue that from birth the whole human race is terminal and going to die and they want to avoid a long painful death? While it seems an unlikely scenario right now, it will be tested in the not to distant future and a decision will have to be made. My heart goes out to Brittanys family.
