This may make me sound like a crazy Ukrainian diaspora person. But I could have not been more proud to be Ukrainian watching Ukrainian President Poroshenko speaking in front of the Canadian parliament (cried at my desk). Never in million years could have believed that I would watch a Ukrainian president speak so eloquently and in English. He was clever, he was smart, he was funny and the reaction from those in parliament was amazing to see. I realize he is a politician and this is what he is supposed to do. He has a huge task ahead of him, and he could very likely disappoint as his predecessors have before him. Nonetheless, I was proud to be Ukrainian today and I pray for better times.
