This morning I woke up and realized blood all over my jacket. Last night I witnessed a young man lean, too far, over the train tracks and have his head split open by the oncoming train! Not knowing the severity, he kept saying he was ok as the blood spilled onto his face. When we ran over to take care of him he broke down in tears and was thanking us. Picked him up and brought him outside, got info from him, called the cops and waited for the ambulance with him. When we asked him for a number of someone to call, he cried harder because he said the person that he was just with wouldnt even help him. THAT broke my heart. Ambulance finally comes and takes him away after we give them the run down, and we head back to Brooklyn. As soon as we get out, another man needed immediate assistance. Visibly starving, it took everything out of him to ask for food. Thank you Jenny for making me take the extra cookies yesterday because now this man has at least something to eat. With all that said, life is not about you. Its about living in committed action and being a true contribution to the world by jumping in and being whats wanted and needed.
