This morning, the kids and I drove into Maggie Valley from Cherokee to get some breakfast. We had a lovely breakfast, and were driving back to the hotel over Soco Mountain. We spotted a female elk next to the road. We slowed down considerably, and drove past her slowly so that we wouldnt startle her... I was afraid shed jump out in front of us!!! She just looked at us as we drove past - she didnt seem afraid or anything. Ive been enjoying my time with the kiddos in the mountains these past couple of days. Its been good quality time with them, and I am thankful for it! We have been making memories, and enjoying nature and each other. This evening, were going to try to go to the entrance of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park to see if we can spot a herd of elk that the locals are telling me pass by there at dusk each day.
