This past summer the 32 best Men soccer teams gathered in Brazil to play in the FIFA World Cup. Next summer, the 24 best Womens teams will gather in Canada to do the same. Earlier today, the Final Draw was conducted for the Womens World Cup. Unlike the Mens World Cup, where two losses during the Group Stage will eliminate your team from the tournament, that is not necessarily the case in the Womens World Cup. Just like the men, the Womens tournament also lasts 30 days. In total 52 matches will be contested. This is FOX Sports debut as the official US broadcasters of the FIFA World Cup. The winner and runner of of each of the six groups will clinch spots in the playoffs, there is room for four Wild Card entries in the playoffs of the Womens World Cup. And they will go to the four teams with the most championship points that finish their group in 3rd place. The 24 teams competing in the 2015 FIFA Womens World Cup are as follows: GROUP A: Canada (Host Country) China (1999 Runner-Up) New Zealand Holland GROUP B: Germany (1995 Runner-Up, 2003 and 2007 Champions) Ivory Coast Norway (1991 Runner-Up, 1995 Champions) Thailand GROUP C: Japan (Defending champion) Switzerland Cameroon Ecuador GROUP D: United States (2011 Runner-Up, 1991 and 1999 Champions) Australia Sweden (2003 Runner-Up) Nigeria GROUP E: Brazil (2007 Runner-Up) South Korea Spain Costa Rica GROUP F: France England Colombia Mexico The Opening Ceremony/First game of the tournament will be played on June 6, 2016 at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta between the host country Canada and China. The 3rd place match will be in the same place on July 4, 2015. The 2015 FIFA Womens World Cup Championship Match will be played on July 5, 2015 at BC Place in Vancouver, British Colombia (Host of the 2010 Winter Olympics).
