This past week has been physically, mentally and emotionally - TopicsExpress

This past week has been physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Last Sunday, Tammy, Olivia & I drove to St. Louis for the I.B.M./S.A.M. Combined Magic Convention. About 1300 magicians from around the world were there. I was VERY excited. Then, Monday morning I learned that my dear friend, Alex had passed away. I went into a fog. My initial plan was to drive back to Nebraska for the funeral, then drive back to St. Louis. Tuesday, I discovered that I could fly out of St. Louis round-trip to Omaha for less than I expected, so I bought my plane tickets. I flew out Wednesday morning and my friend, Scott Klinger picked me up at the airport. Later that afternoon we went to Alexs viewing and that evening we performed the Broken Wand Ceremony for our friend and fellow magician. That night I had a restless sleep and the following morning both Scott and I were honored to serve as pallbearers. Scott took me directly from the cemetery to the airport and I was on my way back to St. Louis. I caught their metro train at the airport that got me to the Peabody Opera House with 15 minutes to spare before the start of the evening magic show. Unfortunately, in my absence, the Society of American Magicians National Council meeting had been held and I missed being sworn in as National 1st Vice President. I found out that Tammy had stood in for me. Friday night after the huge banquet, Past National President Dan Rodriguez officially swore me in. Im legal now. The next two days are a blur of shows, meetings, talking with old friends and making new ones. But I really, really, really enjoyed sharing it all with my wife and daughter. Today we had our long drive back. Im pretty drained.
