This photo is from the 2011 memorial stair climb in Lancaster, PA. It was the first year I participated in the climb as it marked the 10 year anniversary of September 11th. This will be the third time I am doing it and I am really looking forward to it. Although it is exhausting, it helps me focus on the more important things in life as many firefighters do this time of year. On September 8, 2013 at 0900 hours, I will retrace the steps of the fallen to honor their name and mission. This year, I will go with Joseph Angelini Sr. in my mind and heart; he was the most senior man in the FDNY at the time. Last year, I went up for his son, Joseph Angelini Jr. Both men responded in and died when the towers collapsed.
