This post is not intended to discredit an institution or the person involved but this is something i thought is worth sharing. My father was scheduled to have his colonoscopy done this morning at 9 oclock at Chong Hua Hospital under a certain Dr. Enjel Gabriel. And as instructed, he did all the necessary preparations like fasting since last night, and taking of the laxatives, both oral and suppository, which resulted to his lack of sleep due to the bowel frequency. And so we then left Badian around 5:00AM. We went to the CHH Endoscopy Section at around 8:50AM, got settled in while my father was prepped for the procedure and advised to wait for the doctor. At around 10:00AM, the doctor has not arrived yet. My mother overheard the secretary calling the doctor and telling her that nasuko na ang pasyente...si patient Jorolan...aw nakalimot ka doc?... At 10:30AM, after three unsuccessful attempts at IV insertion (for his sedative), and now getting impatient, my father has had it and stormed out of the colonoscopy room, removed his gown together with the plasters in his hand and his wrist tag, and left a mouthful of expletives to the staff. And we all walked out of the area. _______ I understood the frustration of my father, having to undergo the foregoing preparations and discomfort all for nothing. I have a lot of physician friends and classmates working in Chong Hua, and Im certain this is just an isolated case of one doctor. I just hope that the newer breed of doctors would learn to value the time of their patients. Peace out!
