This saddens me. I had the best encounter with Little Jimmy - TopicsExpress

This saddens me. I had the best encounter with Little Jimmy Dickens back when I was about 24, I would say, Ricochet was playing at The Grand Ole Opry. They do not give passes and the show was sold out and so Kevin, Ricochets ole Tour Manager, told me that I needed to dress nice that night. So I was dressed to the nines.... He then told me we had that I had to pretty much act like I was somebody important, while we were walking to the back door of The Grand Ole Opry. I had no idea what I was in for... I got off the tour bus with all the confidence I could muster and when we turned the corner my whole world changed for a moment. I had no idea what I was walking into, but Kevin did. :) As soon as I turned the corner there was about 50 or so paparazzi outside and the cameras just exploded as I walked by. Pretty sure they thought I was some new up and comer because you werent allowed in the back door, unless you were somebody. I would be lying if I didnt say it was AWESOME! Ok so now to the point of this story, we get through the crowd and the back door opens, and who there to greet me??? None other than The, Little Jimmy Dickens, I smiled at him and he smiled back and said something like, Welcome, Little Lady, I kept my composure and thanked him and just kept walking. (Remember, I was supposed to be someone) LOL. Anyway, we went around the corner and no one could see me, and i kinda geeked out a little. I quietly got excited and turned to Kevin and was mouthed the words, OMG that was Little Jimmy Dickens, That was Little Jimmy Dickens. I was like a school girl. :) As if this day wasnt amazing enough I was a few feet from Chet Atkins, that night, and if you have never been to the Grand Ole Opry, there is no back curtain so as the show was going on, I actually got to walk across the stage. I was in the dark and no one could see me, but, I could see them and I just stopped Kevin and seriously did like a 3 second jig and then sang like 2 lines from The National Anthem, quietly ;) Just so I could always say, for the rest of my life, that I sang and dance on the stage of The Ryman. I have always been proud of myself for seeing my moment and stopping to take the time to smell the roses. What a wonderful night, and a huge highlight that night was being greeted by Mr. Little Jimmy Dickens. RIP You will live forever in my memories.
