This was a BIG day of love in the park: 6/27/14 I wrote two poems that Ill never forget. The first was for a couple that had just gotten engaged only twenty minutes before, and the second was a secret set up in which the woman did not know that I was writing a poem of proposal to her from him. The first one first, posted 6/28/14: The couples is from Australia. They came to New York for a ten day vacation. What the women didnt know is that she would be proposed to, on the second day, on the Bow Bridge in Central Park. He had a trumpet player come play, The Skys in Love with You by Herb Albert. It has been stupendous weather in the city, it was a perfect day. I have to say, I felt so happy in their presence. Theyre so gentle, soft, so sincere. Ive thought of them a bunch through out the day. . WILL YOU MARRY ME? In the span of a life the traverse from here to there from then to now from me to you upon a bridge with the weather loving your cheeks the sunlight of your smile I ask the simple question if love will span a lifetime an in the music of an angels horn you simply say you will In a simple moment a life time of love is recognized in a kiss the kiss that will be my home from now into eternity … And the second one, posted 7/20/14: This man, Patrick, got in touch with me to set up a surprise for his love, Amanda. He would take her for a stroll through Central Park and they would happen upon me and Mighty and get a poem. I was to act as though I had no idea that the poem would be a proposal. I was to write a poem that ended with the line, Amanda - My love for you could last a thousand lifetimes but Ill do my best to fit it all into one. Will you marry me? I set myself at the Bethesda Fountain. Patrick brought Amanda to get a love poem. When I finished it, I slipped it into an envelope without reading it, and without taking a photo of it or them. Patrick send me a these photos later. Then he walked her over to Bow Bridge to read the poem. A LOVE POEM There is no question who I love There are lots of questions about the future Things are changing so fast these days but right now Im overwhelmed with the one certainty that lays all uncertainties to rest the feeling of waking with you is the certainty that I am so blessed filled with a light that knows no age a certainty that what ever the day brings will be handled with the strength I have with you what ever will happen today will occur in the enhanced light of this knowing When I hear your voice your laughter the sight of your eyes Im stronger then Id ever known possible There is no question about my love for you just one question for you Amanda - My love for you could last a thousand lifetimes but Ill do my best to fit it all into one. Will you marry me? … I, to this day, recall so fondly of these interactions. I cherish the honor bestowed on me by Patrick to give words to his beautiful moment of love. It is such a moment that makes this poem life worth the cost. To this day I remember this Australian couple, with whom I was able to openly share their moment, with a fondness exceeding most every other poem Ive composed. There was a deep and simple love I recognized so much so that I felt as though Id fell in love FOR them. I mean they are strangers, but in those moments, from my sort of transpersonal, angelic position of observation I knew them, and I felt something so true. I feel it to this very moment. The photo of them sitting on the bench afterwards enjoying the poem together, is one of my very favorite photos, of the twenty five hundred plus photos I have of people.
