This was a life changing hunt I tell you! It all started at our cafe when our hunters turned up James & Ken along with two new hunters Simon & Kerry who Ill drop in now are two hard out people! Funny? We nearly had to stop for a piss stop every 5mins! Shit the bed this team is something special and not in just funny but they made you instantly a friend. So the weather was absolute crap! Wind/rain sleet and more wind! It was snowing whilst we were there on the ranges and we were catching the tail of it! Was so cold it made the hair on my chest freeze haha. We spent the morning in search for the first deer but with out any success due to the weather we dropped lower to get out of the brute of it all and this is when Simon pulls of the shot all of shots! If a mate told you this you would say BS mate! Simons first shot of a canon and we spot a deer at 800 odd and it works its way towards us and stops at 755 metres I tell him we need to shoot 5Moa to the right! So for those new to long range shooting we dont even have the crosshairs on the animal!!! He lies still and calm! All dialled up for the drop ..... Boom the 338 blaser rips a 300gr at the spiker and before you hear the thump it is rolling down the hill!!!!! Dead as a I dont know it was just dead! I take Simon to go gut his first deer and Anita makes the decision to take James,Ken & Kerry to look for a deer and successful that was with James taking a stag with a standing shot!! Nice shot bro! He backpacks his beast up the hill and we make a pick up! So I said Simon and I will go hang these animals somewhere so off the team goes for a look! This is where it all turns good for Kerry with not only his first hind/ deer a big beast at that! Was approx 300 metres also! So proud of you bro Im gutted I didnt see it but this is it! Anita is a machine and there aint a deer safe with her around hahah! So we come back to pick up our mates and they yell out we have another! Im thinking dam I should of just waited-after a good meal and a cup of tea for the boys we are off as James wants to have a look for another! We spot a mob of velvetys approx 1000 away and come up with a cunning plan to get around them and secure another! So we get to the vantage point and they are gone well I thought so till James was lined up pointing up a hill! They were 320ish and boom the 7mm drops a stag!!! Yea Buddy a nice velvety! So now its time for Ken- this man has you in tears all the time! We see a beauty hind down in a gut while glassing some faces! 212mtrs boom toes up for this hind!! Massive carry also! They did insane to get it out so quick! Old James says il take another!!!!!!!! But il use that canon! Its on brother!! We get back down the gully and follow a track South when up on a face looking down on us is two hinds at 187mtrs 41.3degrees he put the blaser on her face! Whack did I hit her!? Mate she rolled down! Straight thru the nose and out the back of her head- absolutely perfect shot!! All animals were perfectly harvested! And no hinds were pregnant also!!
