This was just sent out by Mark Jones office an hour ago: Good Afternoon, Commissioner Jones and TXDOT have worked together and come to an agreement on speed limit reduction throughout the construction zone from FM 967 to Brodie Ln. The speed limit will be reduced as follows; When traveling northbound on FM 1626: 50 mph from FM 967 to Bliss Spillar 45 mph from Bliss Spillar to Brodie Ln. When traveling southbound on FM 1626: 45 mph from Brodie Ln. to Bliss Spillar 50 mph from Bliss Spillar to FM 967 *THE MODIFICATION WILL BE COMPLETE BY THE END OF THE DAY FRIDAY, 11/22/2013, PLEASE USE CAUTION* Once the project is complete, the speed limit will be set to the speed limit that currently exists for normal conditions. TXDOT will then perform a speed study to determine if the speed limit can be increased or remain the same. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office and DPS have committed to increase the presence of law enforcement in the area to address the speeding issues of large trucks and other vehicles. A DPS vehicle was already observed in the area this week. In addition, the Hays County Sheriff, Gary Cutler, contacted each of the quarry companies to discuss the issue of trucks speeding while traveling to the quarry. He requested that they warn truckers to drive with more caution in this area for the safety of the truckers and traveling public. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.
