This was written as a comment to a previous post by my good friend John Zanetti regarding Deflate Gate!! John...my favorite move...A FEW GOOD MEN!!! Well done! ESPN: Did you deflate the balls?!! Tom: YOURE GODDAMN RIGHT I DID!! ESPN: Tom, did you deflate the footballs Judge: You dont have to answer that question! Tom: Ill answer the question. You want answers? ESPN: We think were entitled! Tom: You want answers?! ESPN: We want the truth! Tom: You cant handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that needs sports, and those sports have to be guarded by men with rings. Whos gonna do it? You? You, Commissioner Goodell? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the Colts and you curse the Patriots. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know, that cheating, while tragic, probably raises viewership. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, raises viewership! You dont want the truth, because deep down in places you dont talk about at parties, you want me on that field. You need me on that field. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent winning something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to people who rise and sleep under the blanket of the entertainment that I provide, and then question the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a football, and get on the field. Either way, I dont give a damn what you think you are entitled to! ESPN: Did you deflate the balls? Tom: I did the job ESPN: Did you deflate the balls?!! Tom: YOURE GODDAMN RIGHT I DID!!
