This was written today by an officer, I withheld his name for his safety. It is an excellent read and very timely... Sergeant - El Paso Police Department “Officers began speeding toward the Navy Yard…Regular patrol officers…Some from schools, some from speed-enforcement details, all from the first hour a new shift and a new week. Old, young, male, female, black, white. They just came…They began to arrive almost immediately. And quickly formed up into an assault team. They didn’t wait for the SWAT team. They didn’t stand back and wait for the armored personnel carrier. They formed up and went in…They ran to the sound of the gunfire. They closed with the enemy, and engaged him, and killed him…regular patrol officers had killed the gunman and ended his assault.” ~Bob Lonsberry; “The Cops Amaze Me” Partners, this is you! Immediate Action Rapid Deployment is what you have been trained to do and what you will do. As a former knuckle dragging, door kicking member of our team, I know and understand that it will be you, the patrol officer, who will be first to these scenes. Which is why I push hard at training and why any and all skills from that former assignment are freely given to you. Because when that call finally comes, it will be you first on scene. You will be ready and willing to face and stop the danger that is hurting innocent lives. Stand Strong and Stand Ready for this. After every incident there are typically 2-3 copycat incidents. We are now 3-days into the Active shooter/Hostage Mall Siege in Nairobi, Kenya, 13 shot on a Chicago basketball court, officer shot and killed in an ambush during a 58, 4 line of duty deaths this week alone. Situation normal, for the thin blue line. Stand Strong, united and Stand Ready!!
