This week, DNR LED Rangers Sgt. Mike Barr and RFC Zack Hardy are partnering with US Army Corps of Engineers Ranger Jake Albers and the Wildlife Action Group to sponsor a kids and wheelchair bound hunt on US Army Allatoona Project Corps of Engineers land in Cherokee County. The hunts will take place at McKinney Campground and the Coopers Furnace areas around Lake Allatoona. All hunters will be using archery equipment. Yesterday, a crossbow practice session, safety meeting, and lunch were held at the Wildlife Action property off Kellogg Creek Road. The wheelchair bound hunt will be held today and tomorrow. The parent/child hunt will be held December 13th and 14th. The goal is to manage an over population of deer through hunter harvest. All participants are excited about the unique hunting opportunity.
