This will make you feel good about being human... Today this 24-year-old Congolese Pentecostal Christian refugee arrived in Louisville and was warmly welcomed by this former refugee from Iraq, who is a member of MENA (Middle Eastern North African) business association, which is co-sponsoring this young man and his 3 brothers and helping them resettle in Louisville. The first, that we know, of a primarily Muslim group co-sponsoring a Christan family! Beautiful! Hang on it gets better... On the way to his new home we stopped at the Somali Mall for lunch and were greeted and graciously welcomed in 3 different languages, Arabic, Kinyarwanda and English. Later at his new home, eleven Bellarmine students arrived with a weeks worth of groceries and set up his apartment using furniture that had been donated from all over Louisville. Wait, there is more....A Cuban family, who also just arrived today and is staying in an adjacent apartment, locked themselves out of their apartment. To our amazement, this young Congolese man invited them to stay in his extra room until a new key could be made tomorrow... and they graciously accepted. So sleep well tonight Louisville, knowing we are all connected and surrounded by abundant compassion and love.
