This year alone, two different, yet similar reprehensible acts of violence against the police that resulted in the deaths of both officers and civilians highlight the depth of our national problem. But, we must never forget that these are not the acts of white people or black people, these are the acts of THESE people, the ones who took arms against police for their own reasons and motives alone. Whatever our differences, we must all stand together to condemn these acts of violence against the police even as we question certain acts of violence by them. We are not at war. We cannot be at war with ourselves:
