Thought For The Day: Dear George Lucas, I know weve had our differences. Han shot first. Sebastian Shaw was standing beside Yoda and Obi-Wan, not Hayden Christensen. Replacing puppet Yoda in Episode I with a CGI replacement took away the sense that his hobbling through the room on Naboo before Obi-Wan provided; that of an Orders vision clouded, its members both too set in their ways and past their youth to effectively safeguard the galaxy in a twilight age for the Order. I wish youd just leave the films youve already been involved in making alone, George. But, with you, there is always hope. In Episode II, you made Jar-Jar Binks technically responsible for the rise of the Empire, thanks to your authorisation of the Grand Army of the Republic. I didnt mind the green screen worlds, because the final effect was ever memorable. Finally, you introduced me to my favourite sci-fi universe of all time. To the Jedi, to Luke standing with one foot forward on the rock on Tatooine looking up at its two suns, and to so many heroes and villains I love. In 2005, I remember how I felt leaving the cinema, having watched Episode III, what I thought would be the final Star Wars film. Please, let this be a new hope. May J. J. Abrams keep in mind how this job couldve gone to Joss He Who Is Praiseworthy Whedon if Joss wasnt already doing The Avengers (and what a wonderful world to live in where thats true, but still) when hes discussing his edits, and post-production. Please make it good, J. J.. My ally is the Force. And what a powerful ally it is. Blow me away with this teaser trailer today. Regards, Benji,
