Thought I would share my opinion on something since its the first day of early voting..I know youre all dying to hear it. ;) Subject...straight ticket voting....one word...DONT. Im not necessarily saying dont vote for everyone that happens to be in the same party if it happens to be your inclination. What I am suggesting is that you take the time to actually go down the ballot and vote for the PERSON. Quite frankly, I hate that little box at the top of the ballot that is provided for straight ticket voting. To me, it just gives an avenue for voters to vote for a party or an ideology rather than the individual and the qualifications they may or may not hold for particular office. People wonder why we have people running our government that have no business being there. Its because Americans have become lazy about educating themselves on candidates, and its just much easier voting for a party. Voting is not as much a right as much as it is a responsibility and a privilege. Oh that we would start treating it as such. Know who youre voting for...and if you have no idea about who youre voting for, then for heavens sake, dont vote for them...you could be voting for the devil..even if they are un opposed. Voting for someone you know nothing about is comparable to asking a complete stranger on the street to hold all your money until you get back. And we wonder why we have government with out of control spending. Think about whose fault that is and start taking your responsibility more seriously and vote for the person who you feel will do the job and not because of what party they may or may not belong to.
