Thought about this today and thought I might share this since it helped me learn a lot and take a big step in my engineering! I have reached the point with audio engineering and on forums where I am just tired of watching people try to be the smartest and a lot of their book reasoning for things and asking what should I do to mix/record w/e Why? Just do what sounds good and dont care how or why! Ive learned to mix and track in a way lately that I know what I am supposed to do and I just decided to bend and often break, those rules and coincidentally I am mixing some of the best records of my short career. I attribute that to learning when to not over think things. Im not saying Im right or my way is better, no, Im just saying take a different look at things through a less self judgmental lens , throw the rules out the window, and see what happens! You might like it, Its fun, you should try it! Pushing yourself outside the box is a great way to learn and helped me a ton. I suggest starting with distortion! ;)
