Thought of the Day The Superhero… This is thought of the day can be a blessing to all, but it is especially written for all the mommies out there. Today I simultaneously received a hearts cry answer and blessing from God. I have more than often shared with God how disappointed I have been in the past because I had missed out on so many “firsts” with my children, because I am a mommy that has to go to work outside the home. As my children got older, there were times when I had to pick and choose which events I could attend and which I could not, which only added to my already overwhelming disappointment in this area…Today God blessed me immensely, and then downloaded into me this thought to share with both stay at home mommies and the mommies who have to work outside their homes. I hope mommies young and old are immensely blessed by this thought. “Mommies are their children’s Superhero’s!” It all began when my daughter forgot her school bag at home. When I saw it I thought, “Wow, when she realizes that she forgot her bag, she is going to be in panic mode.” I am home today, so I although God had not yet downloaded the thought into me, in hindsight I know that I was able to be my daughter’s Superhero… However, as the cold air hit me, immediately my thoughts switched from getting the school bag to her, to wanting to have an attitude about her forgetting her school bag. But God! He reminded me of my first thoughts, “That she was probably in panic mode…” So I focused more on getting the bag to her and less on how it was inconveniencing me. As I walked into the school office, I saw my daughter standing at the front desk, her back was to me, and she could barely speak. The poor secretary was trying to calm her down so she could get a phone number out of her. She was so worked up that she didnt hear me call out her name. So I walked up to her and touched her on her back. As she turned and “realized” it was me, I saw her eyes well up with tears of relief. She tried everything in her not to let one of them fall from her eyes onto her face, as she is in middle school and was all of a sudden very aware there were other children watching lolol! It was at that moment that God “reminded” me of all the times I had missed out on “firsts” and some events that had broken my heart, and probably hers, and He filled me with such a feeling of overwhelming, unexplainable joy… He showed me how much this all meant to her, what I my actions represented to her, and how much I meant to her… I told her, “It’s OK, slow down for a minute, it’s OK.” Smoothing down her hair, I sent her on her way to class. As I walked out the school I thought, “Wow God, that feeling right there is what being a mommy is about.” That’s when He downloaded The Superhero into me to share with each of you… So to all the Stay at Home Mommies, enjoy the journey, the privilege of having so much access to your children on a daily basis. You have one of the hardest full-time jobs out there, yet if you embrace it, you get to experience so many more “firsts”, so many more Superhero moments! That right there my friends is priceless. Please do not allow the sometimes catty comments of us mommies who are not able to be stay at home mommies to make you feel less than, secretly in our eyes, you are the ultimate Superhero, so wear your capes proudly! It’s just or envy, but more importantly desires to have that type of Superhero access to our own children. To my mommies that have to work outside the home, SMILE, God gives us Superhero moments too! We just have to change the lenses that weve been looking through, or we run the risk of missing out on the moments… So the next time you are racing across town to make a special event, parent teacher meeting, and etc. think SUPERHERO MOMENT! When you are juggling doctor appointments and errands on your only day off from work, think SUPERHERO MOMENT! The list goes on and on, just remember to change the lenses, and you will be better able to seize the moments. When your children are older, and the use of your Superhero cape has changed, and the frequency of use is a lot less…they will remember how you made them “feel”, when they looked out into the audience and spotted your face, even though you had been at work all day long and had to fight traffic to be at their events. They will remember that although you had mentioned wanting to go back to school that you waited, so you could focus more on your Superhero duties, they will remember… They will remember all the Superhero sacrifices you made as they build their own foundations and place on their own Superhero capes. Be blessed Superhero’s. Know that whether you are Superhero Stay at Home Mommies or Superhero Work out of the Home Mommies, you are your children’s SUPERHERO’S, wear your Superhero capes well, Superhero’ Children’s EYES are always on them… In Obedience, Maritza
