Three weeks ago, I got a call from NBC Sports production company asking if I would help throw out the first pitch at the Phillies vs. Mets game tonight. Its Spartan Night and theres a woman whos a big Phillies fan who lost her leg after it broke (and then got infected) during her softball game. She just ran her first Spartan Race in PA a few weeks ago to prove that losing a leg wont stop her from being an athlete again! As much as I wouldve loved to have been up there on the mound with her, I turned down the opportunity in order to spend time my family. My brother, Greg is in town, which means seven of my eight siblings all get to hang out with my parents and relatives all weekend. Its rare to get that many of us together and even though Im usually a sucker for publicity, my family is far more important than any medal or TV show out there! (You can hear the womans inspiring story on Tuesday, August 19th at 6pm PST, by the way, and watch her race and throw out the first pitch.
