Tip 3: One thing i have found out today whilst researching....a surname can be written down as the place name a person was born in. I had the surname Stanley that was actually written down by the enumerator as Acton- Acton Trussel being the place where the ancestor was born! How did i know it was the ancestor i was looking for? The year of birth, first name, eliminating names with the Acton surname and the folks the person worked for all fitted in.
