Tip Of The Day: When meeting a New Patient for the first time its a great idea to start building a relationship immediately with your new patient. Find out as much as possible about your patient and keep it in your chart notes. This should be something shared and done by the entire staff. The assistant bringing in the patient should start by introducing themselves as the patients personal assistant and offering to answer any questions the patient may have. This is also the perfect time for the staff member to promote the doctor and the practice. Reaffirming their confidence in their doctor and the quality of care provided. And making a formal introduction between the patient and the provider once the doctor enters the room. Its also a great idea for the Provider to ask the patient to tell them a little about themselves, oral health concerns and goals, dental treatment history and past experiences, and things they like to do or any special interest. Now Im sure at this very moment some of you may be asking why would you ask about their interest and what they like to do?. But your patients are a friend of your business and we all know things like this about our friends. Its these types of questions and these small steps that set the $1million dollar practice apart from the $100K practice. Dont believe me......ask a St. Regis Hotel employee what sets them apart from a Holiday Inn. Making your patients feel as though they are an important part of your practice and that you care about them and giving them a voice can literally change the success of your practice virtually overnight. Create Fans from your patient base and you can fill a stadium.
