Tips on how to react to a child or pet in a vehicle showing signs of distress. **If possible** 1. Have your cell phone out. 2. Video the area, entrances of the mall, anything to prove the vehicle is at a certain location. 3. Video the license plate, and the vehicle model. 4. Video the pet or child within the vehicle. 5. While filming clearly state I have reasonable grounds to believe this child/pet is in serious distress. 6. Place the phone (while recording) on the ground, and SAFELY break the window. 7. Rescue the child/animal from the vehicle. 8. Video the child/pet for a short few seconds to maintain continuity of the incident. 9. Shut down the video. Then call 911. 10. SAVE the entire video on your phone. Then post it to Calgary Police Service, or the local police department facebook or social media page. With all this evidence it will help the suspect gain a criminal charge. Best advice is to remain CALM during the entire ordeal...breathe....breathe...and stay calm. This will help you acquire all needed evidence to show your sole intent was to save a life. **PLEASE SHARE, TOO MANY YOUTHS AND PETS ARE DYING. You can save a life.** I wrote these tips due to an incident I had at Marlborough Mall with a dog in a vehicle. Sadly we were unable to get to the dog in time. Use these steps always!
