To Whom it May Concern I would like to make you aware of an opportunity for professionals working in nursing homes. Real Activities for Real People is one of the workshops we offer which covers increasing the quality of provided services. Offered in small groups; facilitated by experienced professionals in the field of Gerontology, Mental Health and Education; presenting the best experiences from the US, Europe, Canada, etc. and held in an experiential setting; these workshops lead to changing the whole paradigm of elderly care and the relationship with the older generation. The upcoming workshop will be held on two consecutive Mondays in the second part of October. Other workshops will be offered in various locations in North Texas. aihra.net/real-activities-for-real-people-part-i-and-part-ii-on-two-consecutive-mondays---october-21st-and-october-28th-lake-dallas-texas.html SIGN UP FOR THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY. I WILL BE THERE. American Institute of Human Relations and Aging and Leading Age Texas Increasing the Quality of Activities Programs: Real Activities for Real People Implementing an Activities Program to improve the quality of life for residents and the overall value of provided services within the LTC community Date: October 21st and October 28th, 2013 Time: 8:00 am - 12:30 pm Location: Lake Cities Library, 302 S. Shady Shores, Lake Dallas, Texas 75065 (On I-35 South, between Denton and Lewsville) The training will utilize action methods and will be held by experienced facilitators - psychologists, social workers, gerontologists, etc. One of them will be our special guest, Mark Wentworth, Founder/Principle Colour Psycho-Dynamics, a world famous professional from the UK and Portugal (presenting thru distance learning). Up to 8 CEUs for various licenses and certifications; light breakfast and lunch are included in the price. Registration prior to the event is required due to the limited number of available openings. A very successful workshop was held in Fort Worth and it had 36 participants. The proposal from our organization model for smaller experiential workshops, where the participants can communicate and exchange ideas as opposed to how the large conferences work, was assessed as useful and desirable. The evaluation rate for the quality of the program content and the presenters was highly positive. I came with the expectation I was attending just another training class; thought I would not learn anything new, but would get the needed CEUs... But I was impressed with the comprehensive, wide-ranging experience; the completely new approach and perspective regarding what activities programming should mean and how it should be done! This was eye-opening… The workshop was so applicable and changed so many of my preconceived ideas about dealing with elderly people who have memory issues! I cant wait to actually apply what Ive learned! Please see attachment. Thank you.
