To all folks in US, dont use CheapOAir or Spirit Airlines to book - TopicsExpress

To all folks in US, dont use CheapOAir or Spirit Airlines to book ur flight tickets! They promised you cheap flights, but their way of doing business is like real asshole! First, I was too busy and tired so I booked a trip in wrong date and destination (I was intended to book for going to San Jose, California, not San Jose in Costa Rica). When I called customer service to change the date and repeatedly tell them about the destination I want to go to, they helped me change the date as I wanted for $155 more but do nothing with the destination. Because I was tired, I didnt check the confirmation carefully and accepted it. Second, I found out about the wrong destination and called them. Then they told me that my tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE despite of the fact I already bought travel insurance! I told them about the insurance and they told me that insurance is only for emergency case! I asked them to move the tickets to a whole next week and help me check if there are any flights on that date. I expected that there will be no additional charge because everybody knows the earlier you book ahead of traveling time the cheaper the price will be, right? But no! They tell me to pay an extra $400 more and give me such non-reasonable departure and arrival times! Who would pay for $1200 from New York City to San Jose just to arrive on Friday night, stay there Saturday and have to wake up on early Sunday to fly back to New York City? Third, now this is when it started to be ridiculous! I told them to cancel the trip, no matter if it is refundable or not I dont care! Why? I have nothing to do in Costa Rica, and of course it doesnt worth to pay $400 more just to stay in San Jose only 1 day! They asked me how much can I pay more, I said maximum $100. Then they told me to wait for them calling Spirit Airlines (the airline that I would be flying on my trip) and bargained with them!? Seriously? This is the first time ever in my life I have heard such story like this! A booking website bargained with an airline for cheaper price? So is there anything like official price on the website, or all are just make up price? So honestly, are we customers always have to pay much much more than what we deserve to pay? Now, after couple minutes dealing with the airline, CheapOAir told me that the airline finally accepted that they would give me back $110 in 7-14 business days, but I had to pay them $100 more to change the flights. Consequently, the price will still be the same. Ironically isnt it, when you book the tickets for next week but still have to pay for the same prices as this week? I wondered what if I accepted their first deal $400, then they would have been benefits $300 more from me! Of course, they was giving me the same non-reasonable date and time as I mentioned above. So of course, before I went any further on this game, I went straight to my bank, withdrew all money I have in my checking account when the transactions in my balance are still waiting for final amount. I also found out the card I used to make the purchase was just a temporary card, so I quickly activated the official one and throw the temporary card away. Then I told CheapOAir I accepted to cancel my trip. Couple minutes later, I found an email on my inbox saying the cancellation fee was $50 (wtf?) and I got credited more than $600 from the airline, and I have to book another trip in 60 days to use the credit amount. Well, now Im waiting for their next email to tell me that the payment was not successfully made, because Im not gonna ever let bullshit business like this to get a dime from my pocket!
