To all the photos of dead classrooms. Yeah, that looks *awesome*. Im *so happy* that the provincial government I rallied and protested and worked so laboriously TO STAND UP TO, has literally DONE NOTHING in response to valid concern and constitutional public effort/outcry. Complete could-not-care-less Because Obvious.Political.Agenda.... was the response. To the parents, teachers, politicians, students, and experts who also VOICED INCREDIBLE CONCERN for public education. Im terrified for my childrens education. I got a phone call today saying that my oldest would start grade 3 on Monday, but that my kindergarten child would not. I did not have a pen and paper to write down his GrK schedule (because I was in Costco), so the admin graciously agreed to email it to me even though this was not standard procedure. The email: Monday, September 22 – No Class Tuesday, September 23 – 1:15-2:15 Wednesday, September 24 – 9:00 – 10:00 Thursday, September 25 – 9:00-11:00 am Friday – 9:00 – 11:00 am Monday – 9:00 – 11:00 Tuesday – Full day 8:30-2:30 Bering a health snack for those sessions 2 hours or more. Cheers, Thats it. That is the email... I have NO IDEA who will be teaching EITHER OF MY CHILDREN. I have NO IDEA which PORTABLE they will be going to on Monday (for my older) Tuesday (for my younger).... ***edit: these small issues I can (obviously) solve. Im worried that it might mean chaos for the staff, the teachers who will perhaps be a combination of more-than-ready to start teaching, and not-yet-prepared with the supplies/information/lists they need to do the teaching they already know how to do. (like weve been reading in some of this groups posts) Some of the comments seem to suggest my *rant* direction was in a mom-panics-because-doesnt-know-what-to-do-on-monday... oopsies. No, *I* will be ok... Im just worried for the #longhaul.*** #imjustsaying right now. I really really am NOT COMFORTABLE as a parent of children in #bced public education. And I was already uncomfortable. So this is the opposite of where I want to be, as a taxpayer, after an historic deal is made, Christy Clark (oh my goodness, it is so difficult to not call you names) I am not angry at the teachers, or the vote they made. There was huge anxiety in my just *thinking* of what I would actually choose to vote, had I needed to make that choice. The direction of my frustration, dissent, fear, complete and utter distrust ...couldnt be more focused right now. Just about exactly as focused as it was when I was standing on the steps of the VanArtGallery. I couldnt be more mad at #bcpoli right now if CC tweeted tonight how this is going exactly as per her BLATANT Project Defund Public Education and Hand it Over to Private Capital shes been running. That means, Im very angry. Someone give the angry people megaphones and soap boxes. Or something more functional. Peace!
