To boost domestic manufacture and to address the issue of inverted duties, the budget proposals for fiscal 2014-15 plan to reduce basic customs duty (BCD) on certain items.To encourage new investment and capacity addition in the chemicals and petrochemicals sector, basic customs duty has been reduced.This was announced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while making his maiden budget speech in the Lok Sabha here today. The finance minister said that steps have been taken to boost domestic production of electronic items and reduce our dependence on imports.
