To keep our sanctuary animals fit and healthy, we have to - TopicsExpress

To keep our sanctuary animals fit and healthy, we have to constantly protect them from parasites like intestinal worms, ticks and fleas. Ticks infect dogs with lethal diseases like Babesia and Ehrlichiosis in Sri Lanka, so monthly anti-parasitic treatments are very important. We also have to spray compounds as we are in the jungle and ticks breed everywhere, so as well as treating the animals, we have to ensure the areas where they live are also treated. With over 500 animals at the sanctuary it is a military operation and all hands are on deck to help out. We also worm our animals regularly and this month worming treatments were due too. Whilst we Frontline the dogs, we also check to see if their vaccinations are up to date and give boosters where necessary. — Frontline and Worming day (26 photos)
