To my Eritrean brothers and sisters, this blog hits the nail on the head. As someone just beginning to learn the culture and attend events, this all gets very confusing. I know something is strange when I see ads all over fb for "official" parties promoted by team whatever, but I have to turn into CSI Las Vegas to find a list of events at the convention center. The problem seems to be two-fold, one - we have two many people throwing parties that are essentially regular club parties that promote the promoter and not Eritrean culture, and two - the organizers of Eri fest need to figure out a way to work with these enterprising young people to make one great festival experience. depositoatheart.wordpress/2013/07/30/who-is-the-official-host-of-the-eritrean-festival-in-dc/
